The persona is the mask or appearance one presents to
the world. We all wear masks of one sort or another.
Some masks we put in place to be able to deal with heartache
or trauma, some are to help us cope with fear and some masks simply help us tell our story. We adorn different masks
for different situations and ultimately wear an even different one when we are alone.
Challenged with the use of a 4x5 view camera and color
film, I set out in search of details and gestures that can transcend the masks that we all wear and allow a peek at the essence
of people when on the street.
What I found was fear, pride, humility, inquisitiveness,
caution, boredom, peacefulness, kindness, and trepidation as if I was looking in a mirror.
