Ms. Harris is a native of Ipswich, Massachusetts and has worked with
fabric since her teens, being self taught in technique and the creative use of materials. Her love of lighting started with
collecting antique lamps in 1987 and developed into a desire to create lamps from unique pieces of wood, recycled wire forms,
and antique objects.
Her lampshades are based on images, often from her original photography,
that are brought to life by the use of colorful appliquéd fabrics and detailed stitching. She uses either electrical or candle
power to bring her creations to life.
When not working as a consultant in the biotechnology industry, she
can be found spending time with her husband and yellow lab in Haverhill, MA or on Toothaker Island in Rangeley Plantation,
ME, where she explores her environment and gathers materials for her nature-based lamps.
